The Top 5 inspirational movies

— Posted by Bud Boomer

In today’s unsettling times, it can be hard to think positively. Every now and then we all need a little pick me up, and while there are a multitude of ways to do this, there’s no better way than to watch a great feel-good movie. If you find yourself a little lacking in motivation, switch over to Netflix and try out any one of these inspirational films.

The Blind Side

blind-sideOne of the reasons this Oscar-winning 2009 hit was so inspiring was the fact that it was based on a true story. The Blind Side told the tale of Michael Oher, a young and misunderstood teenager growing up in tough times. After being taken in by the privileged Leigh Anne Tuohy, Michael soon discovers he has a protective talent like no other, making him perfect in an offensive linesman role. The film depicts his rise to fame as an NFL star, and reminds us all that with enough willpower we can do anything. In today’s money-driven sporting world where sites like often rule the roost, The Blind Side shows a refreshing lighter side of football.

The Shawshank Redemption

Tim Robbins And Morgan Freeman In 'The Shawshank Redemption'Adapted from a Stephen King novella, The Shawshank Redemption told the fictional tale of a man wrongly sent to prison for murdering his wife. After making a series of close friendships while on the inside, the viewer is blissfully unaware that Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) is planning to escape all along, and in one final closing scene, the intricate details of his plans are revealed. The film depicts one man’s determination for justice and proves that a truly strong friendship will break any barriers.

Forrest Gump

Whether it was Forrest’s tales of rescuing his comrades in Vietnam or falling in love with his true love Jenny, the film both made us laugh and cry, and showed that even the simplest of folk could have the biggest achievements in life.

Billy Elliot

The film depicted the life of one 11-year-old boy who wanted to challenge convention and become a ballet dancer, much to the discontentment of his male family members. Despite prejudice, Billy overcomes obstacles and trains to be the best in his field, giving us all hope that no matter who tries to push us down, we can achieve our goals.

Seven Pounds

seven-pounds-504e8eb245045Starring Will Smith in one of his most heart-wrenching roles to date, Seven Pounds told the story of a man looking to redeem himself after taking the lives of seven others in a car accident. Along his journey, he encounters people who are struggling in life and makes it his mission to help out however he can, even if it means making the ultimate sacrifice. With a shocking twist that would make even the most hardened of viewers cry, Seven Pounds showed us just how far people will go for a good deed.

I’ve already seen these movies and I agree, they have something special, I always watch them with pleasure, especially “Forrest Gump” and “The Blind Side”. Someone of you would recommend me other similar movies? I would like to expand my knowledge of cinema :)
