And yet, UK tabloid The Sun reports that Zellweger has agreed to star in a third film, so long as she doesn’t have to put on weight as she did for the first two. And even Firth would be in- he apparently told the BBC last month that it “could be quite fun” to return to Bridget, Mark and Daniel now that they’re all getting older. The reported plot for the film would have Bridget pregnant, and not sure whether the father is Firth’s or Grant’s character.
I actually read the first book back when I was college for a literary class and, as is with most things to do with college, there’s a lot of nostalgia for me with this movie. I enjoyed the first movie for what it was, but wasn’t really a fan of the sequel. Zellweger hasn’t been in anything recently that’s been a hit to my knowledge, and this would be a good opportunity for her to benefit from any residual interest that’s emanating from Colin Firth at the moment.
